چکیده

Budding through the host-cell membrane is a key step in the life cycle of many viruses. Recent studies of retrovirus replication implicate a large number of cellular proteins in this process.

Ectopic Expression of Embryo/Cancer Sequence A (ECSA) in KYSE-30 Cell Line Using Retroviral System

Background Human preimplantation embryonic cells share many similarities with cancer cells such as ability to self-renew, unlimited proliferation and maintenance of the undifferentiated state. Embryo-cancer sequence A (ECSA), also known as developmental pluripotency associated-2 (DPPA2), is a cancer testis antigen (CTA) with unclear biological function yet. Objective: CTAs are expressed normal...

Human Papillomavirus and Cancer - Immunological Consequences of MHC Class I Down-Regulation

Few studies have been conducted on the causative factors associated with the development of cancer. Infection by high risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs) have been implicated as causative agents in a variety of cancers. HPV is capable of evading immune system and establishing persistent infections. Prolonged infection and lesion maintenance are associated with higher risk of neoplastic progressi...

Overview on HTLV-1 p12, p8, p30, p13: accomplices in persistent infection and viral pathogenesis

The human T-lymphotropic virus type-1 (HTLV-1) is etiologically linked to adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma and tropical spastic paraparesis/HTLV-1-associated myelopathy. While the role of Tax and Rex in viral replication and pathogenesis has been extensively studied, recent evidence suggests that additional viral proteins are essential for the virus life cycle in vivo. In this review, we will sum...

Effects of Resistance Training and Lifestyle Modification on TCD4+cell Count and Body Composition of HIV+ Patients

Background and purpose: Anti-retroviral therapy has raised life expectancy of HIV+ patients, but, it is associated with some adverse effects. Physical exercise as a non-pharmacological approach could be helpful in reducing some adverse effects. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of resistance training (RT) and lifestyle modification program (LMP) on TCD+ cell count and b...

Tumor cells expressing a retroviral envelope escape immune rejection in vivo.

A model system for the in vivo control of tumor cell proliferation by the immune system has been used to assay for the possible immunosuppressive activity of retroviral proteins. Expression vectors for the entire or the transmembrane subunit of the Moloney murine leukemia virus envelope protein were constructed, as well as control vectors for irrelevant transmembrane proteins-or no protein. The...
